What I Read in April

I won't lie, April was a crazy busy month for me. I've written at least a thousand words every day this month, working on Book 2 in my urban fantasy series. The first draft of the project is nearly done, which I'm ecstatic about, given the slow start I had when working on it.

As a result of spending so much time writing in April, my reading fell more or less by the wayside. I only read two books this month, which is a shockingly low number for me. I'm hoping my reading will be able to pick back up in May.

With that said, here are the two books I read in April:

Mal by Perla Zul

This was a cozier retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story than I initially expected. The story is compelling, as is Mal, the protagonist, as it tackles themes such as grief and abandonment. It's not as dark and gloomy as I anticipated, which was a delightful surprise.

Running With the Wolf by Bryony Rosehurst

This was an entertaining and sweet story about grief, love, self-discovery and trust. The captivating story, about a witch trying to stay one step ahead of the hunters killing members of her coven, had me invested from the beginning, and seeing the dynamic between the two leads develop kept me hooked on the story all the way through.
