ICYMI - Updates on Death & Destiny in the Mountains

It's been a little over a month since I last updated here on my current writing project, Death & Destiny in the Mountains, which is the second book in The Arcane Codex. The holiday season was busier for me than in the past, and it seemed to pass far too quickly.

Regardless, I owe everyone an update. Currently, the manuscript is with my beta readers and I'm eagerly awaiting their feedback. Once I receive their notes, and evaluate how I want to incorporate them, I'll start another round of revisions. Then it'll be time for line and copy edits, where I work on the nitty-gritty parts of the story, such as word choice and honing my voice as a writer. It's a fun part of the process, while also being labor-intensive.

At this stage in the process, I have the final story more or less nailed down, which means I can start outlining the next book in the series. I've had a general idea of where the series is headed since I was working on the first book, but I wait until a book is finished before I start planning out the next one.

Currently, I'm hoping to have Death & Destiny in the Mountains published in the fall of this year. Magic & Murder in the Holler released in September, which is why I'm aiming to have the sequel out at around the same time. The fall vibes fit that series very well.

Adeline Coburn returned home to Kentucky, but it’s not the home or the coven she left behind. As Adeline draws closer to the culprits, she finds herself pulled into a conflict with deadly consequences, and facing a choice with world-altering ramifications. Long-buried secrets will come to light, and survival may come at a higher price than she expected.
