State of the Manuscript 3/25/2026

Hello, I know it's been a while. February seemed to fly by and so has most of March. I've been meaning to provide updates on my writing, as I intend to do every month, but time has really slipped by me so far this year.
The latest draft of Death & Destiny in the Mountains is currently with my amazing editor. I'm supposed to get her feedback within the next three weeks. After that, the manuscript will be one revision, and a proofread, away from being done. I'm one step closer to being able to set a release date and getting the book into readers' hands.
I started writing the first draft of The Arcane Codex Book 3 at the beginning of March. I've been writing at least 1500 words per day, so I'm currently a little less than 60% finished with the draft. Death & Destiny in the Mountains has a wild ending, so figuring out where this book should start was a struggle. I think I've found the right place, and a great story to tell, but getting the first draft completed is always a challenge for me. As a "discovery writer" I know what the end will be, but getting there is half the fun (and half of the stress).
In some quick news, I finished the first draft of a short story I'm writing for a charity project. It was fun to stretch my creative muscles in a new way. It was also refreshing to write a "lighter" story that doesn't involve death and darkness. I still love writing about those things, but a break is always appreciated.
